Penang Tourism ‘brings’ Penang to Singapore with OOH Media’s platforms

Singapore, 16th June 2015 – Penang Tourism bought over MediaCorp’s OOH Media’s advertising spaces in the entire bus shelter at Lucky Plaza in order to capture the eyeballs of the commuters travelling along the key shopping belt of Orchard Road.

Penang Tourism bought out all of the platforms available at the bus shelter outside Lucky Plaza – 3D flagship, 6 sheet, 12 sheet, Digi6, Digiboard and TVC, in an effort to reach out to locals and tourists to promote Visit Penang 2015. By making use of different visually attractive elements in the various platforms, Penang Tourism was able to provide an immersive experience for commuters.

Penang Tourism

Located along the key shopping belt of Orchard Road, Penang Tourism featured the various ‘Penang icons’ ranging from food to tourist attractions, with the aim to ‘bring’ a little bit of Penang to Singapore. These icons were portrayed using actual photographs of iconic places of interests in Penang.

The rooftop of the shelter features a 3D train that moves up and down a stone wall hill, replicating the famous funicular train at Penang Hill. Trees were also added, surrounding the various 2D and 3D structures to emphasise the greenery and serenity that Penang is known for. The 6 sheet showcases the line-up of events under Year of Festivals in the upcoming months such as Heritage Celebration, George Town Festival and Penang Island Jazz Festival. The 12 sheet provides more information on some of the experiences one can look forward to when visiting Penang. Last but not least, the Opti-Prime platform displays various videos on Penang that promotes the upcoming George Town Festival in August.

These engaging advertisements are used to prompt audience to find out more about Penang, as the link of the website and Penang Global Tourism’s social media were prominently highlighted. The location of the bus shelter further boost the reach of the advertisements as Lucky Plaza is along the key shopping belt of Orchard Road, with high traffic flow comprising both residents and tourists.

Mr. Ooi Chok Yan, CEO of Penang Global Tourism said, “We hope that the whole bus shelter is eye- catchy enough to induce interests among passersby.”

Mr. Henry Goh, Head of OOH Media, also said, “Integrating all the platforms in a bus shelter allow advertisers to create an immersive brand experience for the target audience. OOH Media is glad to have this opportunity to work with Penang Tourism, and deliver such an immersive bus shelter.”

This campaign is on-going from 14th May to 24th June 2015.
